Since last week, UP FM has been hosting dr. Brandon Soltwisch, a Fullbright Fellow from the University of Northern Colorado (USA), who is on FM on a three-month research project.
Dr. Soltwisch is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Northern Colorado, U.S.A, where he teaches courses in entrepreneurship and organizational behavior. As an accomplished researcher in the fields of behavioral decision-making and entrepreneurship with 12 peer reviewed publications found in top journals, such as Journal of Entrepreneurship, Marketing Letters, and Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, he enjoys exploring the decisional process to help business leaders and entrepreneurs make better decisions.
Whether it be engaging with audiences in the classroom, corporate trainings, or through various talks and research seminars around the world, Dr. Soltwisch loves to share his discoveries with people in ways that they find useful and practical in improving their lives. As a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Soltwisch is visiting the Faculty of Management at the University of Primorska to research factors that promote entrepreneurship in Slovenia and throughout Europe.
As part of the U.S. Fulbright program, he will be researching how decision-making styles affect innovation and business starts in the E.U. and Central Europe. The project will look at students and entrepreneurs who are navigating the startup process (or considering it) to see how their thinking/decision styles relate to early-stage business decisions.
The goal is to identify how economics, culture, and decision-styles interact with each other to better understand what drives individuals to become entrepreneurs, and how those factors relate to the successful launch of new ventures and subsequent business activity. Along with data from Slovenia, the project will compare maximizing and satisficing decision-making styles across Central European countries to understand cultural and economic differences in the way people approach decisions, and how those differences foster innovation and entrepreneurial intentions across the region.
